When you are driving on the roads of Colorado Springs, you’ll want to do everything you can to preserve your safety. One of the most important ways to do that is to keep your front brakes in good working order.
As you apply the brakes to slow or stop your vehicle, the front brakes absorb most of the pressure, with the rear brakes simply providing added assistance. If something isn’t right with your front brakes, you may have difficulty bringing your vehicle to a stop. It is crucial that you take care of any issues brake right away!
Brakes are made up of two primary parts that need to be replaced periodically, pads and rotors. Brake pads apply pressure to the rotors to slow the rotation of the wheels. Over time, they both wear down.
Once your brake pads reach a thickness of less than a quarter of an inch, it’s time to replace them. If you notice a squealing or grinding noise when you brake, that usually means your pads have worn down completely. Your check engine warning light also may come on in this case. If you ignore these signs, you’ll likely damage your rotors and need them replaced as well. Replacing rotors is much more expensive than simply replacing brake pads, so it is best to catch any brake problems as quickly as possible to minimize the cost of the repairs.
During front brake service at Freedom Honda, a certified service technician will start with a complete brake inspection. Once they have identified the problem, they can replace the necessary part and test everything to ensure it is working properly.
Once the brake repair is complete, they’ll perform an inspection of the rest of the vehicle as well to alert you of any potential issues that may become problematic in the future. This way, you’ll know what to expect when you come in for your next service.
