Getting A Sense of Honda Sensing

February 2nd, 2016 by

hondaIt’s no secret that Hondas are some of the safest vehicles on the road.  Honda been constantly awarded some of the highest honors in the automotive industry for safety, but despite all the success, Honda isn’t settling. Going above and beyond is what they’re about, and Honda is developing new safety technology. This technology is doing more than making sure Honda owners are safe in crashes – ideally, it will help prevent owners from being in a crash to begin with. This technology package is known as Honda Sensing™. Honda Sensing™ is available on several Honda models and includes:

Lane Departure Warning. This alerts drivers when it sensing a vehicle is drafting in and out of the lane. The alert will make a sound and a light will appear on the dashboard.

Lane Assist System. This is another technology that helps drivers stay in their lane. Driver fatigue is a big problem, and this technology will be able to sense when you leave your lane without signaling and can adjust the steering to keep you centered.

Road Departure Mitigation. If your Honda detects you drifting too close to the side of the road while driving between 45-90 mph, it will send rapid vibration to the steering wheel to alert you. If that doesn’t work, your Honda can also apply steering torque and braking to try and keep your vehicle in its detected lane.

Adaptive Cruise Control. This technology keeps a set distance between you and the car in front of you. This way, you don’t have to constantly adjust the speed of your vehicle in a high-traffic situation.

Forward Collision Warning. Getting too close to that car in front of you? Your Honda will use audio and visual alerts to notify you that you are in danger of being in a collision. If you do not act on the alerts, your Honda will apply brake pressure to slow your vehicle down.

Collision Mitigation Braking System. Even with all of this technology, sometimes a collision is unavoidable. This feature will apply brake pressure and attempt to bring your Honda to a stop before impact, or at least reduce the damage of the impact.
