There’s only one Earth and we all have to do our part to protect it. That’s why Honda works hard to implement sustainable processes and create sustainable products. However, that’s only the beginning. They have transformed how they operate at every level to reduce their environmental footprint as much as possible.
Honda’s Environmental Impact
Honda is dedicated to making its impact on the ecosystem as small as possible. These values are supported throughout all levels of operation, from manufacturing to sales and everything in between. In fact, they are voluntarily working to lowering their carbon dioxide emissions by 50 percent by the year 2050. Here are a few other steps they are taking to impact the environment.

Green Path
As an automaker, Honda is acutely aware that the various aspects of the industry (designing, building, delivering, and selling) all have a lasting effect on the environment. That’s why they are focused on lowering or eliminating their impact in each of these areas with a holistic approach they refer to as the “Green Path”.

Honda plans to cut CO2 emissions but developing fuel-efficient vehicles such as the Honda Insight and zero emission vehicles like the Clarity. These vehicle developments are only the first step, the company realizes cutting emissions and finding ways to make their manufacturing processes more efficient is vital to creating a better tomorrow. The Green Path outlines ways to reduce the amount of water used in manufacturing, energy used in transportation, and the use of fuel alternatives such as natural gas and wind energy. These changes have already led to the reduction of energy used per auto by 14%. Less than one-half of one percent of the waste from 12 American plants ends up in landfills!

SmartCharge
A carbon-free future won’t be possible without innovation. Honda is constantly working on cutting-edge technology that can lower carbon dioxide emissions. One of these technologies is called Honda SmartCharge. SmartCharge is an incredibly advanced technology that tells drivers the best time to charge their electric vehicles. Drivers earn rewards for charging at the optimal time so not only does this help them lower their environmental footprint, but it also helps them save money as well!

Honda Marine Science Foundation
In addition to environmentally friendly practices, Honda created a nonprofit organization called the Honda Marine Science Foundation, which addresses marine ecosystem problems and facilitates climate change resilience. Learn more about the Honda Marine Science Foundation here: https://bit.ly/2ITq3GQ
