How Honda’s Warranty Works and What You Need to Know

September 16th, 2019 by

A vehicle warranty is important to understand before you commit to a purchase. You need to understand the different aspects that are covered, whether they are limited, and, if so, for how long they are covered. Keeping on top of these is paramount to having a smoother experience looking for a vehicle. Freedom Honda, a registered Honda dealer, offers every Honda warranty and hopes to keep you up to speed on the different warranties covered and how they can affect you so you are a more educated shopper when you make the move for a new vehicle.

Honda Limited Warranties

There are multiple warranties to look out for when you are searching for a new vehicle. Any of them could come into play if something occurs down the road that would require you to repair or replace parts or elements of your vehicle. Each warranty covers a different timeframe and mile limit with other stipulations as well.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

All new Honda vehicles are covered under a 3-Year/36,000-Mile and 5-Year/60,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, meaning that any car under this limit is covered for repairs and maintenance should the need arise. Accidents happen, and you can’t always account for certain events in life. This is why it’s important these warranties are in place so you don’t have to worry should something eventually happen.

Accessory Limited Warranty

Honda Genuine Accessories installed at the time of the vehicles purchase are covered by a 3-Year/36,000-Mile limited warranty. Installation of use of non-Honda-Genuine Accessories that result in vehicle damage is not covered under otherwise applicable warranties. If one of your accessories breaks before this time period, you can have it replaced or repaired for free. However, it has to be an accessory that is already in the car when you buy it. Anything you add later doesn’t fall under the warranty and won’t be covered, even if it’s another Honda accessory.

Replacement Parts Limited Warranty

Honda Genuine Parts are covered for one year. The warranty coverage for replacement parts purchased from and installed by a Honda dealer includes parts, replacement, and labor. If something in your vehicle isn’t working right, you can have it replaced for free within the first year, including the cost of labor and of the parts themselves. After this period, you will have to foot the bill.

Remanufactured Parts Limited Warranty

Every Honda Genuine Remanufactured Part is backed nationwide for 3 years or 36,000 miles. If your vehicle has a remanufactured part, it is covered for the above timeframe. This means it will be replaced free of charge within the time or mile limit. Should something happen, you won’t have to worry about taking care of it out of pocket.
