Staying Safe On New Year’s Eve
Happy New Year’s Eve, Freedom Honda fans! Earlier this week, we told you about all of the exciting things going on around town this evening. While we want you to have a great time ringing in 2017, we also want you to stay safe. With today being one of the most dangerous days to be on the road, we thought we would give you some suggestions on how to stay safe. Here are some things to make sure you make it home safely:
Designate a driver. If you plan on drinking while celebrating this evening, we encourage you to designate a sober driver beforehand. Pick someone you know will be responsible and ensure that you get home safe. Always designate your driver before you start celebrating and your judgement has been affected.
Have a plan. If you find yourself in the position where a designated driver is not an option, make sure you know how you are going to get home. Whether it’s via a taxi, Uber, or some other service, it’s important to never get behind the wheel after you’ve been drinking. By having a plan ahead of time, you can enjoy the evening without the stress of finding a way home.
Stay where you are. One of the best ways to ensure your safety is to just remain in your current location. Whether that’s getting a hotel or utilizing your friend’s guest room, staying in the same spot overnight will ensure you don’t have to be on the road where the potential for a crash is significantly higher than normal.
Stay home. No matter how much of an extrovert you are, sometimes the best nights are ones that are spent at your own home. By staying in, you can celebrate how you like, without the fear of encountering an impaired driver – as a driver or passenger.
Please remember to stay safe and make it back to your loved one during this time of celebration. Whatever your plans for the evening are, we hope you stay safe and have fun! We hope that 2017 brings you many great things, and should you need a car to get to those things, come see us here at Freedom Honda! We’ll be able to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
