Car repairIt’s summer! There are some outsiders that think the only time Colorado is exciting is during the winter months, but those who truly know the beauty of this state know just how wonderful summertime can be! With so much to do in just a few, short months, you don’t have time to worry about something going wrong with your vehicle. Freedom Honda, your go-to dealership in the Colorado Springs area, has the tips you need to keep your vehicle running strong this summer.

Oil changes. No matter what kind of vehicle you drive, everyone needs to have an oil change. While some people prefer to do it themselves, it’s always better to use a trusted service advisor that can ensure that it’s done properly. Additionally, they can notify you if any additional repairs (like servicing the radiator or air condition) need to be made to your vehicle that they noticed while servicing it. Check your owners’ manual or ask your service advisor about how often you should get your oil changed. In case you forget, most cars alert you when it’s time for them to have an oil change.

Check your tires. As beautiful as it can be, a Colorado winter can be harsh on tires. Check the air pressure and tread of your tires (for tread, don’t forget to use the penny trick). Don’t hesitate to have air put in your tires or have them replaced altogether, if needed. The last thing you want is to experience a blow-out.

Replace your windshield wipers. Oh hey, rain. If there’s one thing you don’t want to do this summer, it’s get caught in a rainstorm with subpar windshield wipers. When your visibility is reduced, you are at an increased risk of crashing your vehicle. Stay safe with a new set of windshield wipers!

Clean off the undercarriage of your car. Salt, dirt and other road debris can wreak havoc on the undercarriage of your vehicle. By simply spraying it off with a hose, you can avoid the headache of corrosion.

Change your air filter. This is another easy-fix! It’s easy to know when it’s time to change your air filter due to the amount of debris that has accumulated on it. If it’s black and dirty, it’s time to change it. While you’re at it, be sure to check all of the hoses and make sure there are not any cracks, leaks, or loose connections.
